So this week I decided to create a video on my conversion story to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized on July 30,2011 and it has brought nothing but peace and joy into my life! If any of you are converts be sure to leave a comment with your conversion story. If you would like to check out another conversion story that is incredible, check out the blog: http://alfoxshead.blogspot.com/ SHE IS AMAZING!
If any of you have questions about the Church or would like to know more, feel free to ask me or you can go to: http://mormon.org/
They have a lot more information than I do haha.
SISTER MISSIONARIES: if you would like to be a part of the Facebook page I mentioned, add me on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/carly.upton.5 and send me a message that you would like me to add you to the page.
Later this week I will be posting a video on crafts to make for your missionaries! Leave a comment with the type of crafts you want to see: Birthday? Christmas? Valentines day? Missionary's first week in his new area?
Let me know!

So I just stumbled upon this blog because the link showed up on my twitter feed and it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI was converted to the church on May 22, 2011 by my boyfriend who is now currently in the MTC. He left last Wednesday and will be serving in the Oregon Portland mission.
Here's my story...
I started dating Bryce when I turned 16. We have been bestfriends since kindergarten and we grew up together. I never knew he was Mormon and he never came out and told me until we were about a year into our relationship. I didn't know a thing about the LDS religion so he invited me to church on a Sunday that he had to give a talk. I told him I would go but I would never join his church because it wasn't what my family wanted. I guess I lied. I went to church and I was amazed at how open everyone was to me and how much it felt like a big family. I loved how I felt when I was there and I kept going back every Sunday. I also started going to early morning seminary with him. That was January 2011.
I started becoming very close with Bryce's whole family and soon they brought up missionary discussions (something else I knew absolutely nothing about, but agreed to). After the first discussion, the elders asked me when I wanted to get baptized and I was like WHOA hold on a second! I kept taking discussions & reading my BOM but I kept putting off getting baptized because my family was not supportive of the idea. Finally I reached the point where enough was enough and I KNEW I had to be baptized. I knew the church was true and I wanted to be a part of the plan of salvation. I also wanted to be baptized before the elders who taught me went home. I made my decision on Tuesday, May 17 and I was baptized on Sunday, May 22. Elder Schofield completed his mission on the following Tuesday and Elder Barker was transferred to a new area soon after that. We still keep in contact and I have actually been out to Utah to visit them twice since my baptism!
My baptism was the greatest day of my life. Bryce baptized me and his dad confirmed me on the following Sunday. My mom attended my baptism and supported me even though she wasn't happy about it. My dad couldn't bring himself to come. Typically baptism ceremonies are held in the RS room but so many people showed up to support me that we had to move it to the chapel. I was overwhelmed with the love and joy that I felt. I will never forget that day and I am so excited that Bryce is now serving his mission and changing the lives of so many people, just like he changed mine.
Thank you for creating this blog. I am not a blogger but I enjoy these posts and knowing that I am not the only one out there waiting on a missionary.
Wow, honestly thank you so much for sharing your story! We have a lot in common. I love hearing conversion stories, seriously makes me so much more excited about the gospel. I'm in love with you and your missionary! Such a cute love story :) && I can't believe everyone met in the Chapel!!! YOU GO GIRL! Where is your boy serving and are you planning on serving at all? I'm so so happy for you!
DeleteThank you! Bryce is serving in the Oregon Portland mission. I don't plan on serving now. I am going to college for early childhood education and I feel that I have a large amount of missionary work to do here with my family. I would love to eventually serve with Bryce on a couples mission when we are old :)
DeleteSO cool. Well I am so excited for you! Y'all are so cute. Where are you going to college :)
DeleteI'm in Pennsylvania, going to Penn College. My parents wouldn't let me go to BYU :( But thanks so much for this blog and I am excited for you and your boy as well! What are your ideas for when he first gets to his area? Bryce is still in the MTC for another week.
DeleteThat is so awesome! I am in the process of making a video of what to send your missionary when he first gets out. It should be up by Saturday!
Deleteif i could be as beautiful and popular and creative my life would be made <3 you are awesome.
